Our US made thick washers have the crown on the front, but it is the concave portion on the back side that is relevant in assembly. There is an engineering reason why the back side is concave and that only the edges load against the intake and exhaust header surfaces. Crowned front and concave back is not an arbitrary result in the use of a heavy press. The radii is built into the stamping die deliberatly and planned in the Nissan tooling design. Ask yourself if Nissan knew what they were doing before you believe everything your reading on the internet.
