Its in the detail - Read On

All the contours and details that match the original dash, yes we nailed it on the first try. Now here is why our dash was always the best of show and faithful to the original and had details that no other dash had. 1st) The dash, on the drivers side extension visor, covering the main gauges, extends properly like the original. 2nd) On top of the dash, on the drivers side, the foam & vinyl has the proper arc. 3rd) The front has the characteristic flat front edge and 4th) On the top of the dash, extending from the drivers side to the  passenger side, our dash has the thin raised portion, that all the "so called  experts" said never existed and then later mysteriously started to appear on a competing dash.

Solid  Fiberglass vs Fiberglass Composite construction

The reason why we never made the dash as a solid fiberglass piece is   precisely why it has more detail. As a solid fiberglass piece it is not possible to capture all the details of an object that has detail which spans 260 degrees. To do so, a fiberglass mold would have too much  undercut that would create the result of not being able to remove the part from the mold after the part had fully hardened. It would lock on the mold. With the Vacuum forming process it is possible to have  undercut which captures more detail and is able to be removed from the mold.  The ABS part, while it is cooling, is still malleable which allows it to be removed prior to full hardening. The ABS is forgiving and has " Memory" once pulled. After trimming, now is the appropriate time to add   fiberglass to give the part strength. Simply put, the latter process is a better engineering process than the former if you want the detail of the original.

Manufacturing

During the manufacturing process, each Dash is test fitted for accuracy and ease of assembly. Each Dash also comes with a straight forward professional instruction sheet. The mounting hole for the early mirror is not pre-cut. You can use this dash on all 65, 66, 67 & 67 1/2. All the mounting hole areas to attach the dash are marked and are pre-drilled. This is the newest version our 65, 66, 67, 67 1/2 1600 & 2000  fiberglass reproduction foam and vinyl covered dash LH drive only.

"Best of Show" is above all other winners even in the low windshield class. Now in our 25th run of repro dashes. We have added a few photos of our fiberglass, foam and vinyl covered version of our dash installed in a 671/2 2000 to give a idea of the final look and fit. Soft, supple covering is very realistic and nice looking.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Best always after receiving and looking at your dash to leave it in the plastic bag and bubble wrap and box until ready to use to prevent damage through contact with tools, sharp objects that can dent or make an impression in the foam & vinyl. Store in a dry and room temperature area.
