2nd photo shows the the two part cap disassembled.

Two part cap which has a hole in the bottom that feeds to a inner reservoir in the center of the cap to capture any gear box oil expanding out of the steering box, which later drains back. It also has an open hole at the top to vent oil if the gear box has been overfilled.
